FAMILIAR LOOK & FEEL

Operate the 527F with familiar screens and commands of the legacy Fadal CNC. No training required. An enhanced keyboard and panel is available for quicker tool management, job set-up and program management.

Use original Fadal commands to program, operate, or service the machine.

Program, operate, or service the machine using the NXGEN Quick Keys optimized for a touchscreen.

POWERFUL MEMORY FLEXIBILITY

1.

USB INTERFACE

Load G-code files on a USB flash drive of any size and easily save them into CNC memory. Programs can also be punched to a USB flash drive.

2.

SD FLASH STORAGE

The 527F comes with a 32 GB SD card as standard. Programs can be run DNC directly from the SD card or transferred into internal CNC memory. Larger memory SD cards can be used if desired.

3.

ETHERNET

The 527 can be setup as a FTP site on a network. Users can easily drag and drop files via Ethernet and which stores them on the SD card. Users can map this memory space on a computer and use it as a hard drive.

AN EMBEDDED CONTROL DESIGNED FROM THE GROUND UP.

Embedded control requires more expertise, take longer to develop and put into service than PC based systems.  Why choose embedded and do it the hard way?

We know first hand the difficulties of maintaining PC based control systems as new versions of Windows are released. An embedded platform means we do not have to worry about chasing Microsoft Windows updates, versions and its inevitable obsolescence. If connected to a network, you need not worry about security threats as with PC based systems. The 527F is not vulnerable to hackers and virus threats.

PC's and a general purpose operating system are not ideally suited for CNC servo control. This is why so many PC based CNCs use servo motion controllers connected to a PC bus. Our embedded approach eliminates issues associated with operating system changes or updates which can affect the usability and performance of these types of integrated motion controllers.

Our code and embedded platform is extremely portable and allows us to move to newer, faster technology with ease.  We have complete control of our technology.

PUT A PC IN YOUR PENDANT, NOT IN YOUR CONTROL

An affordable option connects the pendant monitor to a PC in order to view CNC operation. This is not a PC control – it's simply using the PC to view 527F screens via software. The operator can minimize, maximize and scale the 527F screens like any other Windows program.

The PC_USB video kit includes a USB dongle that connects to a NUC form factor computer mounted inside the pendant. 527F screen information streams via USB and is displayed on the screen. A pendant mounted tray supports a wireless mouse and keyboard.

Run software on a PC with confidence knowing it cannot interfere with CNC  operation. The USB connection is one way and only screen data is sent from the 527F.

Having a computer at the machine brings a host of possibilities along with confidence that the PC is not running any part of the CNC. , such as CAD/CAM programming at the machine, remote CNC viewing via TeamViewer/Google remote desktop, ability to check email, pulling files from anywhere on the network and placing them into the 527F memory... and is a nice way to perform program simulation using the software of your choice.

Status Relay Output

The 527F-RB82 adds 8 dry contact relays that close under certain machine conditions. These relays can be wired to tower lights, horns or devices that send email or text alerts. Other uses include connecting the relays to data gathering systems in order to measure machine operation and efficiency.

Chiller and Flood Coolant Monitoring

The 527F-RB82 also includes 2 inputs that can be connected to flood coolant and chiller pressure switches.

Chiller monitoring:

A user supplied pressure switch added  the cooling system line is wired to one of the modules inputs. An alarm and subsequent E-stop is generated if an unusual pressure condition exists. is monitored for a normally open condition. The chiller fault will only occur is the spindle is running. This helps to protect against catastrophic spindle fault due to insufficient Dow Frost. Another pressure switch can be added if the pressure exceeds the nominal range due to a clogged pump filter;• pinched oil lines; or clogged cross tubes.

Flood coolant monitoring:
A pressure switch connected to the flood coolant line is monitored by the 527F and will generate a warning, then fault if the pressure fall above or below nominal values during operation. Multiple pressure switches can be wired in series for min and max setpoints. The 527F monitors the flood coolant pressure switch only when the flood coolant is commanded on.

Extra Tool

The Extra Tool feature allows tool offset and diameter information to be defined with a unique tool number without regard to the tool changer pocket location. Unique tool numbers can be inserted into any tool changer pocket. When a tool is called from a program, the control will know which pocket it is in and insert it in the spindle. This saves a tremendous amount of time by eliminating the need to re-sort tools and/or re-type diameter and offset information when changing tools from one job to another. Tools and their information will be retained even when removed from the tool changer. This makes replacing a removed tool due to limited tool changer size  a breeze. It allows makes it simple to move tools from one machine to another.

Automatic coolant nozzle control

The 527F serial port can be re-defined as a built in interface to programmable coolant nozzle systems that automatically and precisely aim high performance coolant jets at the cutting edge of each tool. It is as easy as entering SETP parameters, scrolling to the RS-232 parameter and selecting "Tool xxx" .

No need to add sensors to the nozzle system in order for it to keep track of which tool is being used or sending tool identification to the nozzle system with DPRINT statements. .

Servo Turret
(527F version, available 4Q,2023)

Tired of watching your Geneva tool changer mechanically index from one tool to the next? Add the Calmotion servo turret kit and watch the carousel zip to your next tool. Installation consists of removing the Geneva wheel, AC turret motor and replacing it with a powerful stepper motor and gear assembly. A motor mounted encoder ensures the tool changer is always at the right position. The kit is available for 16, 21 and 30 tool Geneva tool changers. This option is available through authorized installers  only in limited areas.
